Hijack

Insufficient evidence

We did not find enough credible, independent evidence to publish a numeric cash-grab score. Unrated is more honest than a guess.

What counts as a cash grab?

Commercial extraction prioritized over meaningful consumer or creative value. Profit, popularity, adaptations, sequels, remakes, high budgets, and normal marketing do not count by themselves.

Why?

Hijack is a seven-episode 2023 thriller created for Apple TV+ starring and executive-produced by Idris Elba, released beginning June 28, 2023 with the first two episodes and weekly follow-ups. I found no credible reporting of predatory monetization, microtransactions, or deceptive pricing tied to the title, Apple distributed it within its standard subscription model. Critical coverage highlights its real-time seven-hour conceit, production values, and Elba's lead performance, which point to substantive craft rather than an obvious low-effort exploitation of a preexisting brand.

  • Official Apple TV+ materials and the platform listing show Hijack released as an Apple TV+ subscription series, with no extra paywalls or microtransactions reported.
  • Major reviews emphasize the real-time structure, production values, and Idris Elba’s performance, indicating substantive new content and craft.
  • Release pattern was planned (first two episodes then weekly), not a surprise or deceptive drop that would suggest a rushed cash-grab.
