Relooted
2026
Insufficient evidence
We did not find enough credible, independent evidence to publish a numeric cash-grab score. Unrated is more honest than a guess.
What counts as a cash grab?
Commercial extraction prioritized over meaningful consumer or creative value. Profit, popularity, adaptations, sequels, remakes, high budgets, and normal marketing do not count by themselves.
Why?
Relooted (released February 10, 2026) is an Africanfuturist heist game from Johannesburg studio Nyamakop that tasks players with reclaiming 70 real looted African artifacts. My research found no credible evidence that the title was structured as a commercial extraction, storefront listings and coverage show a $14.99 price and day-one inclusion on Xbox Game Pass, no storefront-listed microtransactions, and a separately sold soundtrack. Independent reporting and developer interviews document multi-year development, outside funding, a multinational African team, and substantive historical research which weigh against a cash-grab conclusion.
- No authoritative storefront or review reports show in-game microtransactions or loot boxes, major storefront pages list only the base price and optional soundtrack.
- Relooted was a Day One Xbox Game Pass title and sold at a modest $14.99 on Steam and Epic, increasing consumer access.
- Developer and press reporting describe multi-year development, outside funding, a team from across Africa, and research on 70 real artifacts.
